How You Can Get Involved in
Virginia and DC High School Mock Trial
Here’s how to become a coach, mentor, judge, or supporter of high school mock trial.
Serve as a judge or juror.
Lawyers in Washington, DC, and Virginia (and elsewhere for virtual competitions) are welcome to serve as presiding judges or scoring jurors. No prior knowledge is needed; training and orientation will be provided. Scoring jurors watch a round of competition, score students on their performance, and then provide a few minutes of oral feedback/critique. Presiding judges preside over the competition trials.
We need your help. Please volunteer today!
We need approximately 160 lawyers, law students, and current or former college mock trial competitors to sign up as judges for our state competition.
In spring 2025, we will release sign ups to judge regional and state competitions in January through March.
Become a coach.
If you are looking for a meaningful way to make an imprint on the next generation of lawyers, mock trial is a fantastic opportunity for you to get involved. Teams are looking for coaches, and the time commitment is flexible. If you’re interested in being matched with a team in your area, please get in touch.
Teams in Central Virginia, NoVa, Southwestern Virginia, and DC are currently in need of coaches.
