Welcome to the Virginia High School Mock Trial Program, presented by the Virginia Law Related Education Institute. Are you and your team ready for the ultimate competitive law related experience?

The program is open to teams of six to ten students from public schools, private schools, and the home school community located in Virginia and Washington D.C.

Program Information

VLRE is proud to present our 2020 Mock Trial program problem Blacklock v. Ninja Flight! The crash of Cardinal Airlines Flight 1027 haunts the grieving spouse of the pilot flying that day. But what caused the pilot’s Ninja Flight Company Super 700 to crash? Was pilot error to blame? Or was it the airliner? Can you prevail at this high-stakes game of aviation litigation?

Registration opens September 1st.
Register early for preferred placement when regional assignments are determined. Read the Mock Trial Handbook for detailed information on regional competitions. Mock trial problem available to teams September 1st (after registration).

Do you need to register by check? To obtain a paper registration form, you need to register for a VLRE Portal account ​

  2. Register on the VLRE Portal
  3. Select the Virginia High School Mock Trial Competition
  4. Select "Paper Registration"
  5. Download the registration form provided and submit it by mail along with your fee to:

The Virginia High School Mock Trial Competition uses the rules of evidence and competition established by the National High School Mock Trial Competition. Teams are encouraged to understand these rules prior to the competition. ​
